Art Therapy
Speech Therapy
Art Therapy, also known as Creative Arts Therapy, is a form of psychotherapy that uses the creative arts to explore and express things that may be unconscious or difficult to verbalise.
Art therapy uses a bottom-up approach to access unconscious, or inner wisdom for a deeper understanding of how we are in the world. A bottom-up approach is based on the understanding that we feel before we are able to express our experience with words.
The therapeutic environment offers a safe space to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings using art, whilst removing the expectation of talking.
We offer neurodiverse affirming, client-centered art therapy, therefore, based on the child’s individual needs. A session may be self-directed or if preferred, directed with support from the art therapist. Reflection on the art process fosters growth and the sharing of insights and experiences verbally is the decision of the client.
Art Therapy honours client choice and control, making it a great option for therapy refusers and first-time users.
Art Therapy is NOT:
- an art class or the learning of new art skills.
- making beautiful art – you do not have to be artistic or creative.
- using art to analyse someone.
- a therapist telling someone what they think their art means.
Art therapy is about the process not the final product.
Our speech therapy services are designed to support your child in communicating naturally, while enhancing their expressive and receptive language, speech clarity, and literacy skills.
We begin with a personalised evaluation, assessing each child’s strengths, interests, and communication preferences through play, conversation, and observation, sometimes using standardized tools.
Together with the child and their family, we set meaningful, individualised goals that matter to their everyday life. Our strength-based approach highlights what your child can do, building on their abilities and incorporating their passions to keep them motivated and engaged.
We embrace flexible communication methods, including verbal, non-verbal, and visual supports, as well as alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) tools for those who benefit. All forms of communication are welcomed and encouraged.
Our therapy sessions are play-based and take place in a sensory-friendly environment, with activities tailored to each child’s needs, including sensory integration to support self-regulation and focus.
Respecting neurodiverse traits, we honour each child’s unique communication style, whether it includes stimming, echolalia, scripting, or non-traditional language use. We empower children through client-centered therapy, encouraging self-advocacy and involving them in decisions about their treatment.
Our holistic approach considers their overall well-being, while also collaborating with educators and families to ensure consistency across environments.
Group Therapy Services
Our school holiday group therapy sessions offer a supportive and inclusive environment where children can engage at their own pace. While the focus is not on teaching traditional social skills like eye contact or turn-taking, we create a social context that encourages natural interaction and connection. Children are free to communicate in any way they choose and are supported in regulating their emotions and behaviors in ways that work best for them. Each child’s participation is unique, and our experienced therapists are dedicated to fostering growth, self-expression, and meaningful connections.
